“Wow! I have really enjoyed this – it has made me think, learn new things, revise ideas and really connect with the children” — Numbers Count Teacher

Numbers Count Professional Development

Accredited teachers will receive every year:

3 days of face-to-face professional development led by a Teacher Leader, including:

– Numbers Count developments and updates

– mathematics curriculum and pedagogy

– supporting mathematics across the school

– school visit from a Teacher Leader

– reaccreditation as a Numbers Count Teacher if they meet published Standards.

Without a doubt, the most valuable CPD I have ever had in 20 years teaching. Every session had a direct impact on the children and my own professional thinking, I have never felt so challenged, supported and encouraged all at the same time.

New teachers will receive in their first year:

7 days of face-to-face professional development led by a Teacher Leader, including:

– training to deliver the Numbers Count intervention

– mathematics curriculum and pedagogy

– 2 school visits from a Teacher Leader

– accreditation as a Numbers Count Teacher at the end of two terms if they meet published Standards.

Wow! What a year! It has been quite a rollercoaster at times but I feel I have really grown personally as well as professionally. I am a much more confident person now and I feel passionately about enabling our children to learn in the best possible environment with quality first teaching.

All teachers will also have:

Access to telephone and e-mail support from a Teacher Leader and the university

Teacher Leader support for organising local network meetings and visits to learning partners

Access to the Numbers Count website, including resources, guidance, discussion, and job vacancies

Opportunities to submit evidence of their work for academic accreditation and to study online for the MA Early Mathematics Intervention at Edge Hill University.

The Numbers Count programme has given me an opportunity to fill the gap in my learning of a subject I thought I knew well as a teacher of more than 20 years! I have learned so much but also reinforced my beliefs in real and contextual learning, about how children learn and embedding the foundations. Long may this programme continue.
